Imetrum helps BLADE with Displacement measurement

The Video Gauge product now allows investigations to be filmed in real-time and analysed off-line for more detailed analysis and avoids having to pre-select where measurements will be taken before the test. Earlier versions required the tester to specify where to take measurements before testing begins, and if the sample or structure deformed in unexpected ways the test would have to be repeated. The new version is able to extract strain measurements from recorded AVI files allowing the user full control of what measurements are taken, even after the test is completed. AVI files from other source, such as high speed cameras, can also be analysed.
"The system allows us to work in new ways that better meet our needs", commented Dr. John Macdonald at BLADE. "We have used the Video Gauge for over a year now and the new system is even more flexible than before since we do not need to define areas of interest before we start the testing". John Macdonald is Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, a leading expert on bridge structures and makes extensive use of the Imetrum Video Gauge both in the BLADE laboratory and investigations in the field.
BLADE, the Bristol Laboratory for Advanced Dynamics Engineering, is one of Europe's most advanced dynamics engineering research facilities, combining with world-class engineering and expertise. The centre brings together renowned experts across numerous engineering disciplines and is extensively used to research Earthquake damage limitation. http://www.blade.bris.ac.uk/about.html
Video Gauge v2.2 released
The Imetrum Video Gauge now supports recording of AVI files and post-processing of previously recorded AVI files.
- Video of the test can easily be archived to AVI files
- AVI files can be re-analysed - very useful if the measurements taken first time around turned out not to be ideal
- Video from other sources such as very high speed cameras can be processed
