Products and Services
The Video Gauge is a non-contact, video based instrument. It measures 2D displacement and strain on materials, components and structures.
The system works with virtually all materials including composites, metals, plastics, rubbers, biological & food samples.
Simply by changing the lens on the camera, specimens from less than a millimetre up to hundreds of metres in size can be measured.
Simple Integration with other equipment
The Video Gauge has analogue voltage inputs and outputs. The voltage inputs can be connected, for example, to the load or cross-head displacement outputs of a test machine. The voltage outputs can be driven by any of the Video Gauge measurements and may be connected to existing data-logging equipment or used as feedback control for a test machine.
Ease of use
The Video Gauge has been designed with ease of use in mind from the very beginning. Training someone to use the system takes less than 30 minutes. The time taken to unpack the system from its case and set it up to start taking measurements is usually under 15 minutes. Reconfiguring the system to make a different set of measurements usually takes less than a minute or so.
The laptop based version of the system is easily moved between test machines in a lab or taken out into the field.
Real-time and post-processing
The system operates in real-time meaning that results are generated live as the test progresses. Additionally, the system has an archiving feature which records video of the entire test to hard disk. The archived video may then be re-analysed either to repeat measurements or make entirely new measurements.
Video recorded from other sources, such as high-speed cameras, can also be analysed.
